Word UP!
I Ain’t Gon’ Hold You…
Super short update this time around because your girl is pressed! Diaper duty, writing goals, KTLA, grant applications, blood pressure maintenance, and the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, my head is spinning!
I have been enjoying quality time with my daughter and getting organized as we head transition into the final month of the newborn stage. It’s been a wild ride, and what’s made me extremely happy (and hopeful) is being able to slowly integrate more and more writerly things into our daily routine.
My schedule still limited than a mug though…so catch me when you can!
An Orlando Public Library Love Affair
Not sure if you know, but me and the Orlando Public Library been going steady. I been getting it in with the Writer’s Corner since last year, and I fall more and more in love with each session. I’ve got two sessions coming up so you can get in on the lovefest, too.

If You Don’t Love Libraries… I Just…
Saturday, June 21st! || Libraries are the best—an all-access path to books, computers, resources, and community events? No wonder they’re under attack. The most powerful way we can advocate for our public libraries is to get a library card, check out books, chop it up with librarians, and of course, attend events!
I’m featuring at the Barbara S. Ponce Library in Pinellas Park as part of their Local Author Chat series. FREE and OPEN to the Public!
Chicago. Periodt.
It ain’t really a whole lot I need to say. Chicago is my literary home. It’s the city that made me the writer I am today. I call it my own personal “second city” because even though I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Chicago always feels like coming home. Y’all already know I’m going to be on faculty for the StoryBoard Conference, but did you also know I’m featured alongside some powerhouse writers for the StoryBoard Festival?! It’s a homecoming and celebration… COME THRUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Presented by Artistic Director Rebecca Makkai and Program Curator Ananda Lima, our 8th annual festival will take place August 16 & 17 at the Newberry Library. The two day Festival will offer classes, panels, and social events to help writers develop their craft, learn about publishing, and create a supportive community.
The StoryBoard Conference will take place the week before, but it is application-based and requires acceptance to participate. Acceptance into the weeklong Conference is not required to sign up for the weekend Festival.
